Ending Oil Dependency, Building Our Economy

South Sudan’s economy relies on oil for nearly 90% of its national income. This is dangerous and unsustainable. A drop in oil prices or a disruption in production threatens our entire economy.

PEREMO envisions a different path — one where oil is just one part of a thriving and diverse economy.

We will invest in agriculture by providing farmers with inputs, building storage facilities, and opening access to markets. We will develop industrial parks and oil refineries to keep value within our borders. We will support tourism, creative industries, and digital entrepreneurship to tap into the vast talents of our youth.

Additionally, we will reform the financial sector so that loans, microfinance, and mobile money systems work for small businesses and rural communities.

A diversified economy creates jobs, reduces poverty, and builds resilience. This is the PEREMO economic promise: an economy that works for all, not just for those with oil contracts.

With regional conflicts disrupting pipeline access and the global shift toward green energy, South Sudan cannot afford to place its economic fate in oil alone. We must act now to secure our financial sovereignty and the livelihoods of future generations.
