The Office of the President of the Republic of South Sudan has issued an official statement warning the public about the circulation of doctored and fraudulent documents on social media platforms.

In a press release dated 3rd February 2026, the Office clarified that the documents currently being shared online are unauthorized, fraudulent, and did not originate from the Office of the President. The fake materials are reportedly altered versions of a legitimate press release issued earlier by the Hon. Minister of Presidential Affairs.

The statement strongly condemned the circulation of such documents, describing them as deliberate acts of misinformation intended to mislead the public and undermine official government communication. Members of the public have been advised to disregard the fake documents in their entirety.

The Office further urged citizens and stakeholders to rely only on verified and authorized communication channels of the Office of the President for official information.

Additionally, the statement reminded the public that the forgery, alteration, or distribution of false official documents constitutes a serious criminal offense under the Penal Code Act, 2008. Relevant security and law enforcement agencies have been directed to trace the digital sources of the fabricated documents and take appropriate legal action against those responsible.

The Office reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accurate public communication.
